  • 2011 Tax Incentive
  • New Energy Trust Incentives
  • Coming Soon

The photos in this issue of the Red Rooster Newsletter are from a bathroom remodel that we recently did in NW Portland. The property is an old foursquare duplex that was built in 1908. The building was converted to condominiums a few years ago. The bathroom was close to original but not quite functional for modern purposes. We removed the tub and reconfigured the space to include a portion of the existing hallway and relocated the entrance. The space turned out quite nice. One of the features, the cabinet that is pictured, houses the original radiator and the front is perforated metal to allow the heat to flow through the front. Another great feature is the curbless shower. The entire bathroom floor is sloped to allow the water to stay contained in the shower area.

Don't forget to gather your receipts from 2011 remodeling projects to apply for your tax credits and deductions.

The Oregon Residential Energy tax Credits for appliances ended on December 31, 2011. Any purchases that you made before the end of the year still qualify for the 2011 tax credit. There is a list of appliances that meet the current requirements on the Oregon Department of Energy website.

Residential Updates:

For the latest incentives for single-family homes check out the Energy Trust website. The incentives are under review and will be updated this spring.

Multifamily Building Updates:

For those of you that are rental property owners, there is a limited time incentive that expires in June of this year. The incentive is 20% for replacing windows and adding insulation that meets the Energy Trust requirements. This is a really great incentive.

Here is the info from the Energy Trust website:

"Multifamily property owners can earn a 20 percent bonus incentive from Energy Trust of Oregon when they install both windows and insulation by June 30, 2012. If you have customers that are considering a window upgrade, encourage them to install new insulation in either the attic or crawlspace so they can potentially qualify for the bonus incentive.

Note that if the Oregon Department of Energy launches a new tax credit program before June 30, 2012, participants may opt to receive either the Oregon Department of Energy tax credit or the Energy Trust bonus, but not both."

2012 is well under way and we hope to be working with many of you this year.

We are currently working on updating our website to make it more user friendly. The changes will allow for us to add more photos and helpful information.
